IVAN PAVLOV(1849-1936)
"Science demands from a man all his life. If you had two lives that would not be enough for you. Be passionate in your work and in your searching." - Ivan Pavlov
His Contributions to psychology:
I am sure that the first thing that comes to our minds when we hear of his name is Pavlov’s dogJ. As we all know, Ivan Pavlov had experiments on dogs for the concept of “classical conditioning”, which was his most important contribution to both psychology and education. What is interesting is that he was doing the experiments on dog’s digestion and salvation, not on this topic. Actually he wasn’t a psychologist and he didn’t like psychology however his work had great influence in this field. He was acclaimed for his work during
those days. He had Nobel Prize in 1904 in Physiology. Today, he is accepted as one of the pioneers of “behaviorism” and even if he disliked psychology, he is one of the most important men in this field.
